Perhaps there are other tools that can do what this tool does. There are definitely less expensive tools. And lord knows I own a lot of them but .... this tool is fun, functional, and first rate. It's Bosch. It's made well. You hold it in your hands and it just feels solid. If you've never used one of these before but have visions of a grinder you sort of have this mild terror feeling within before starting it up the first time. But then you press the button. Ahhhh soft start - every tool should have soft start. Then it's just humming away. Much quieter than jigsaw. Feels more like electric sheers. But still what to expect when you press it head long into some wood? A smooth slight buzzing sound and a slow easy plunge into the piece. Cuts like butta'. Wow. Now I have to ask myself what the hesitation was in owning one of these. I can never be without this tool. It's not so much that you need it every day ... it's more that you are just thinking about more ways to use it. It's that enjoyable.I'm a diehard Amazon guy but I did not get it here. One of the hardware chains has a better deal on a kit that is not available on this site. In fact, I think it is only available at the one chain. I had never used one and didn't know anyone else that had one so I wasn't sure which one to go with. Fein is very nice but very expensive. When I was at the store I narrowed it down to the Bosch MX30, Porter Cable PCE605K, and the Rockwell RK5140K. This was partly due to the variety they had available and partly due to my research which suggested having a tool-free design would be handy. here are some of my thoughts:The Porter Cable had the easiest tool change and was the lightest unit. It also came with few accessories (not sure how they calculate the number) and will only let you use Porter Cable blades.The Rockwell comes in a small but well designed case and has a very nice feel to it. It has a very cool tool clamping system which allows you to quickly change out Rockwell blades or slightly less quickly change universal blades. This is a tool you just want to like and I did. It came with the fewest accessories.The Bosch has a very clean and sleek design. Almost so much so that you're not sure why it costs so much. The tool change is pretty quick and convenient although it almost seems understated. It's hard to believe that's all that holds the tool in place ... but it does. It has a good size case and nice little tool case included.All of these units work on the same basic principle so I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. It was extremely hard not to pick the Rockwell one but I just knew I couldn't go wrong with Bosch. I had no previous experience with Rockwell tools and while they did offer the longest warranty this just doesn't seem like the type of tool where that should matter. Besides my Bosch router and jigsaw have been going strong for 10 years.One thing that really impacted my decision was that the store carried only Rockwell and Bosch blades. While I will probably buy most of my blades online it's nice to know you can go down the street if ever in a pinch.So what kind of tasks have I used this for? Rotting trim all around the outside of the house. I mean everywhere. This little tool lets you cut out only the parts you want to repair ... much quicker, easier, safer, and cleaner than anything else I could think of. Once I finish this project I'll be looking for many more.

I decided to pick this up instead of the Fein due to the tool-less blade change mechanism, as opposed to the pin style that the Fine uses. My coworker has a Fein and i have to say the Bosch is definitely quieter than and vibrates much less. Overall its a great tool and would definitely buy again.

This tool is awesome. I read reviews on six of these tools and am really glad I purchased this one. The quick change lever for the blades works perfectly. If you need to cut trim molding or scrape caulk from a bathtub you definitely want to purchase this tool. For caulk, order the flexible scraper blade along with this tool. The caulk tool did not seem to work well for me, but the scraper blade worked fine.
