Nice!

Although the SOG B67-N is built tough with useful features, it's weight is more on the heavy side. I wouldn't recommend long humps in the bush due to its weight; but if you're hard on your stuff (like me) then the B67-N is up to the job. I like the fact the B67-N requires little to no maintenance. So, this thing doesn't have to be babied.Furthermore, I wear my SOG B67-N on my duty belt everyday. The black coating on the B67-N looks very military. Plus the tough cordura nylon case blends in nicely with all the other junk I'm forced to carry.Keep up the good work SOG!~MurphyIndependent Contractor"Battles are won and lost in the mind" ~Joan of Ark.

Possibly the best multi tool on the market.

The main components (pliers and knife) of this tool are probably the best of any multi tool on the market. The pliers are geared to double the force that you are able to apply. I was a bit concerned that these gears would be pron to jamming or breaking. I have yet to have any problems whatsoever with this part of the tool and in fact it is my favorite aspect of this tool. Other SOG multitools have been criticize for not making the main knife very accessible. The powerassist solves this problem by placing the blades on the outside of the tool so they are easily accessed when the tool is closed. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because one of the tools jams on another causing a slight inconvenience when switching between tools. This really isn't a big deal but it offers room for improvement. As far as the main tools are concerned I don't think any other multi tool can come close.

Excellent Tools

Overall I am extremely satisfied with the quality and performance of these tools. As a bundle, I think this is a fantastic kit of tools. I wanted to give this a great review out of the box, but I forced myself to try each tool first. They confirmed my expectations and are high quality and very well powered. I'm going to have these tools a long long time.Hitachi uses a liberal amount of soft touch rubber in their tools. It's not too soft or compliant, but on all tools I'm able to shift hand position without fear of losing grip. The softer rubber is also very easy on the hands, especially without gloves. The design helps reduce weight and along with the LI-Ion batteries, these tools are very manageable.Hammer Drill - DV18DL - I'm impressed with the power of this drill. Also the four speed ranges of this drill allows me to select the optimal range for the work. The torque adjustment is simple, and combined with the keyless chuck, the whole front end is very well built and sturdy. It has a nice LED light that can be adjusted to shine on the work and also serves as a belt clip. I had a Ryobi cordless drill and this one is a quantum leap over what I used to have.Circular Saw - C18DL - I test ran this on some fir 2x4s. Very nice weight on this, not too heavy. I'm used to big heavy saws so this was really nice to use. It's only a 6-1/2" blade, which is a good size I suppose for cordless saws, and I really didn't have any trouble working with it. I ran it through the wood, ripped a bit, and also tried plunge cuts. The saw never bogged down or hesitated. It comes with a really nice blade. Features I enjoy are the soft rubber stability grip and the blade lock. It also comes with a light that shines in front of the blade, which in the pacific northwest is nice since winter days aren't really that light. Great tool.Reciprocating Saw - CR18DL - I gave this the most work. I cut through some wet wood and cut up an old bush that I needed to fit into the yard bin. Performance was again excellent. The saw never hesitated even in the 3" green trunk of the bush. The keyless blade system is excellent. I ran the saw both very stable (stabilized on the wood surface) and with the blade floating and the tree (and saw) vibrating like crazy. The blade did not shake loose or damage. The front boot is also from a thick, but soft rubber so I always felt in control of the cut. The speed control is really nice and you can have a soft touch control. Another great tool.Light - A nice flourescent light. The cool thing with the light is the handle and hanging system. The light can be stood on end for the floor or hung from the ceiling. Gives off a fair amount of light. This light will definately be nice when working under the house.Accessories - The kit comes with two batteries and a charger. The charger has a cooling fan that comes on autmatically when charging the battery. The kit also comes with a heavy duty bag that can hold all the tools, charger, and my own accessories blades and bits, with room to spare. It has a lot of pockets inside the bag as well.

Worth the Money and then some!!!!!

For the money and waranty(5 YEARS, compared to 1 like most others) you cant ask for more....I shopped at lowes and was just looking for a quality drill and it started with just looking for a basic 18v drill, the lowes guy sold me on the 18v hitachi there, and it was 189.99. so i started looking at the combo kits there and saw that they had one for 299.99 so i thought for another 110 bux i can get a circular saw and sawzall and light. what a steal and i get the same drill. so i didnt buy it that nite, i came home started looking at hitachi's website and found this one, this kit came with the same stuff except it was lithium ion batteries and had the cordless hammer drill with in class leading 570 in/lbs of torque (about 60 ft/lbs for those who need to know.) that same drill costs 299.99 at lowes by itself. so for another 43 dollars i got that and more. The 2 saws are PHENOMENAL TOO, i never thought i would like a cordless circular saw, but i have been redoing some sub floors lately and that thing has no problem ripping 3/4 inch plywood all day long. the sawzall is just a sturdy, cuts through ANYTHING!!!! Even the lantern that comes with the kit is handy, never thought i would say that, but it does the job i need it to do. The batteries are strong when they get weak it will just shut off, saving the electric motors of all the tools, GREAT FEATURE, instead of most typical tools just lags its way down till it has nothing left, thats hard on the brushes and will burn a motor up quick. quick charger that works like a champ too, a bit noisy cause of the cooling fan that is built in but keeps you in business. Only wish for all the stuff u get would like to have 1 more battery added. The bag for all the tools is a good one as well, and this comes from a guy who loves to have hard cases for his cordless tools, but has pleanty of room for all your tools and the charger too. BUY THIS KIT, ITS WORTH IT!!!!!

good deal but questionable

Please note I bought the 9pc kit which has the same toolsI have had about 10 cordless drills in the past 15 years and recently upgraded to this Hitachi 9 pc kit.Most recently I had a Dewalt 18v 4pc that was about 5 years old. even though my Dewalt tools were in OK shape the 4 batteries were pretty much dead and had been "revived" a few times. I looked at replacing the batteries but between spending $250 for a new charger and pair of batteries or just replacing the whole kit it made sense to get new tools (my drill needed repair as well).My initial impression is mixed I chose the Hitachi set over the Dewalt mainly due to cost and the Lithium Ion batteries, not to mention that they have a 10 year warranty on their tools.The batteries on the Hitachi kit were definitely lighter than dewalt's. seemed like they were almost 1/3rd the weight but their plastic shell does seem to be cheaper quality then dewalt's and the clip mechanism also seems not as sturdy (hopefully though they will last longer).I was very disappointed with the Hitachi lantern. The description states it has both LED's and a fluorescent lamp what it doesn't state is that there is ONLY 1 LED. Now com-on what can you do with 1 LED? the fluorescent bulb isn't that great compared to Dewalts gooseneck lamp this thing is nothing more than a childs toy.Looking at the Drill itself, it's a nice solidly made tool. The design is a bit funky as it has a mix of plastic and rubber pieces its very comparable to the Dewalt 18v unit. Hitachi does fall WAY short on the silly belt clip / LED light that is attached to the lower left side of the tool. First off the LED is YELLOW another "come-on what are you thinking?" as it should be a white bulb also noteworthy is that it seems to be powered by its own battery. I have not taken the light apart to determine its power source but my guess is a couple of flat watch type batts and well that makes it worthless as well one of those marketing add ons that really does not need to be there.The Sawzall, jigsaw grinder and SDS drill are all high quality once again the funky combination of plastic and rubber. I DID however really like the rubber surround that covered the front of the sawzall it makes the tool very comfortable to use.My Favorite piece here so far is the one that I thought would be used the least. The 1/4" impact driver is great for driving screws I have even used a socket adapter into it and used it when working on my lawn equipment. Weight wise its about the same as my older Makita 14.4v unit but has alot more power is much smaller and drives long screws and bolts 500% better than a non impact driver.My least favorite tool here is the "blower" I do alot of woodworking and thought it would be nice to have it handy to to blow off sawdust. I figured I'd have it handy and would be quicker than having to find the blower attachment for my air compressor. The unit works ok but its one of those tools that if you are in your shop and you have an air compressor 15 feet away its no big deal and add no value to your combo.so what do I miss?Not much if anything at all the tools are very comparable to my old Dewalt kit as mentioned the batteries and the charger appear to be cheaper plastic but that's nothing major and should not be a deal breaker.I do plan on buying the matching impact wrench a few extra batteries and the real flashlight (since the florescent lantern is a joke) here in a few months.I do however want to point out that I wish Hitachi made a right angle drill as one does come with Dewalt's larger 18v kits.Deal wise I bought mine from tyler tool they were running free shipping and a 10% off coupon so the setup cost me $782.10Followup on 1/2" hammer drill. Was using a 2" hole saw to drill through 2 2x4's drill did not make it through without overheating. I should state the drill was not the first to stop the battery went into protect mode as I swapped the battery out for the one in the light. The lamp did not turn back on for about 3 minutes untill the battery cooled. Even with the second battery in the drill I had to stop for 15 minutes to let it cool down because it kept shutting down. I allowed the drill and batteries to rest for about 15 to 20 minutes but still was unable to continue as the drill was still hot and shut down after a few seconds.I finally got tired of screwing around and went to the garage for my Milwaukee 1/2" corded hammer drill and that hole that took 3+ minutes with the cordless took 15 seconds to finish.If your a homeowner this setup will work for you BUT if you are a pro and depend on the capabilities of your tools MOVE ON!My final thought? Damn I wish I wasn't cheap and had spent the extra $200 on the dewalt set!

In brief, the title "Power Carving Tools & Techniques" kind of implies both tools and techniques. It's almost all tools and not even much useful info about them. Seemed more like a tool catalog than a magazine. An I had to really hunt amongst to tool pages to find any info on techniques. Don't buy it.

Incredible flexibility...does all things very very well. The Matrix system is no gimmick it's a Home owners dream!

Keep in mind am a home owner and have never used a Dewalt or other premium brands (I don't test drive Porches either because it would make me hate my car). This drill is plenty powerful, no problem drilling 1 inch holes through 2x4s which for me is the line between home and professional requirements.The Matrix system is not a sales gimmick, it is truly flexible. I bought the router attachment for fun and for 35 bucks I couldn't lose . Since then I bought the cut off saw and the jig saw attachments.THE GREATEST aspect of this drill is each attachment is very capable and work as if that is only function of the tool; very Ergonomic and effective.The only drawback is the long 5-8 hour battery recharge time. You will be miserable if you don't get an extra one at least. Thought about 4 stars for that reason but this tool is just too great.Buy your extra batteries on Amazon, they are 10 bucks cheaper than downtown. Just get it already

I should start this off by saying I have used many different brand of cordless drills. I use them daily at work for automotive work and I needed something at home for a few wood working projects. I came across this drill while I was browsing and decided after reading many other reviews that I would buy it.There are many good things about this drill, one of which is the many attachments that make it very versatile. The battery life is another plus, I can use it for hours drilling and driving screws. Its light and very easy to feather the rotating speed if you need to. It does what a drill should, and I wouldn't expect any less.That being said, the first thing I don't like about this drill is the max speed that this drill spins. This isn't always an issue depending on what you're using it for, but it really hinders what this drill can be used for. I get better performance out of my 12v dewalt drills to be quite honest.Another thing I don't enjoy is the fact that the battery takes 8 hours to fully charge. You should plan on buying an extra battery right off the bat or invest in the quick charger.Overall not bad for the price.

This is awsome.

This is the perfect solution. Use the right tool for the job! Use a drill to drill and an impact drill for fasteners. It is nice being able to swap them out but use the same drill. They change effortlessly. I also bought the jig saw attachment which is sweet as well. The only down sided to the impact is that it seems to drain the battery faster. Not sure if I notice a difference between a 18 volt and 20 volt but when the lithium batteries run out of charge, there is no warning and it dies all at once so it is best to have an extra battery.

Powerful, versatile, heavy-duty and lightweight

I'd owned a 14-volt DeWalt drill for more than ten years; I'd purchased it from a friend who had bought it new and then purchased the DeWalt 18-volt model when they first came out. So, when I bought it from him in 2000 it was already a few years old. Not surprisingly, after all those years, the NiCad batteries were beginning to fail and I initially considered just replacing them. However, when I looked at how much two new batteries would cost and then factored in the heavy use the drill had received (by then I had remodeled 2 houses with it), I decided to look at a replacement model. Although I had looked at other brands, particularly Milwaukee and Makita, because of how well my original DeWalt had held up I decided I would stick with a brand I knew I could trust. Although I shopped around, I couldn't really find any "deals" (that is, discounts) on this product, but I needed to buy it anyway because I had started another house remodel and I knew I was going to need a drill sooner rather than later. Fortunately, though, before I hit the "Buy" button, I discovered this package. For only $50 - $70 more than the price of the Hammer Drill alone (which is DeWalt's top-of-the-line unit, and a 1/2" model, not the 3/8" drill that I'd previously owned), I also got the Impact Driver. If you're on the fence about this combo, leap off and buy one because it's AWESOME! The impact driver is very useful for driving screws, and a bit easier to handle than the drill. Although it doesn't have an adjustable clutch like the drill, with a bit of practice you can drive screws into pretty much anything, and set them as deep as you want. (Be careful though, 'cause with all the torque this thing has, you can screw right through things!) The drill, of course, is also totally awesome. It has 3 speeds (instead of the more common two speeds, and all very useful for their intended applications) and 3 modes of operation (drill, screw, and hammerdrill), and enough torque to drill through anything (which is important to me 'cause I'm going to be using it on concrete to set anchors). Finally, the Lithium Ion batteries not only last longer than the former NiCad or NiMh units, they also make these tools incredibly powerful as well as unbelievably lightweight and easy to handle, so your wrists and arms aren't going to get tired after just a few hours of use. This is definitely a 5-star product - I'd give it more stars if I could - and I got it in TWO DAYS! I couldn't be happier, and I know they're both going to last a long time...

Excellent DeWalt Drill Combo Set

For starters, this combo set includes:1) 20v Cordless Hammerdrill (Model DCD985)1) 20v Cordless Impact Driver (Model DCF885)1) Side Handle for the Hammerdrill1) Charger (Model DCB101)2) 20v Lithium-Ion Batteries1) Storage & Carrying Bag1) Belt Hook (comes attached to the impact driver and can easily be removed)The hammerdrill is what I've used the most and, as expected, it's quite powerful and comes loaded with functions, including a control collar that selects between three modes including: hammerdrilling, screwdriving, and drilling. Of course, the standard torque adjustment collar is right next to the control collar. In addition, there are the standard three speed settings as well as a helpful worklight and an attachable side handle. I use a power drill for home repair projects and this drill is unquestionably the most powerful I've ever owned, perhaps a bit too powerful for the casual user. It's also a bit heavier than I'm accustomed to, coming in at about five pounds (with battery attached) while my 12v Ryobi was less than three pounds. Of course, this DeWalt more than makes up for the slight weight difference as it's a veritable powerhouse. I'll never pick up the Ryobi again!As for the impact driver, there aren't any variable functions, but there is a great worklight included, with the light emanating from three different points on the front of the driver. The included manual indicates that the impact driver chuck only accepts 1/4" (6.35 mm) hex accessories and 1" (25.4 mm) bit tips. Though the belt hook comes pre-attached to the impact driver, it can be easily removed or alternately attached to the hammerdrill. The storage & carrying bag fits the entire set comfortable including drills, charger, batteries and all - with room to spare for a few more tools. On the outside of the bag are two 4-inch pockets, one on either side. I've had the drills for nearly a week now and at this point I don't have a single complaint. These are the first DeWalt tools I've owned, but considering the sturdy craftsmanship and overall great performance of the drills, I can certainly say these won't be the last.

Tough to Beat this M12

Overall the tool is solid, tough, versatile, ergonomic, has a built in battery gauge, 12 speeds (5,000-20,000 OPMs). Accepts almost all brand attachments with the included adapter, w/o the adapter it only accepts Milwaukee, Bosch & Skil brands (or generic blades made to fit this particular head). Standard M12 batteries drain in 7-10 minutes of heavy work, understandably. I've found the XC M12 battery is perfect for more efficient operation of this "high output" tool. I also own a 1.5amp Dremel 6300, a 3amp Ridgid JobMax and an 18 volt Ryobi JobPlus. The corded tools are used in situations where prolonged use is a necessity. More often than not, however, I find myself reaching for this one over the 18 volt Ryobi simply because of it's size and the peed 'dial' vs JobPlus' 'trigger'. I liked that this tool is more beefy & rugged and possesses better battery life than my partner's 10.8v Bosch. Milwaukee's 5 year tool warranty is better than most and the M12 overall line is unmatched in the sub-compact/12 volt category.

The Right Tool for the Job

I've been using a first generation Fein multi-tool for years. It is a nice heavy duty tool that is hard to beat if there is an electrical outlet nearby. But Milwaukee's cordless multi-tool is great anywhere that power is not available or a cord becomes a nuisance. It has a nice balanced feel to it and works well with the heavy-duty M12 XC 12-volt battery. The lithium battery supplies the same amount of power until the charge is exhausted and then stops abruptly. A series of LEDs on the side of the tool tells you how much of a charge is left. The tool gets warm as other reviewers have noted, but that hasn't been a problem for me as I use it mainly for cutting. For longer uses such as sanding or filing, I go back to the Fein.It costs considerably less than a Fein and is worth every penny.

Milwaukee "Multimaster"

I am a pro remodeler and use this type of tool almost daily. If you are after a cordless version of this tool, this is a handy one. I only gave three * because it is not all that refined. I have owned a Fein Multimaster for about 5 - 6 years, so my expectations may be a bit high. I wanted a cordless to make quick work of the small tasks when I don't need big power and a cord to deal with. This Milwaukee vibrates very heavily. Maybe all the battery driven types do, but if you hold it wrong your hand will start to burn from the rapid vibration on your skin. If you keep one hand on the battery while cutting the vibration doesn't transfer as much. Also, it would be great it it had a cordless blade change like the Porter Cable. Battery life is short with the stock battery, which is fine and to be expected. The battery doesn't stay put that well, it doesn't fall out though. It has a piece of rubber inside the battery port to keep the battery from sliding out. Lastly, the bag that it came with is far too small to hold the tool, battery, charger, blades, and perhaps a second 12v tool to keep together. It is not a bad tool, I suppose due to the lack of better options I would buy again, it's just an ok tool and Amazon says "OK" = 3 stars. For the price, I think it could be improved.

Great value, but needs a minor fix

I love this pedal, it's exactly what I needed to operate my dremel hands-free. The variable speed is great, and I love the safety of knowing that if I take my foot off the switch, the power goes away.There's one TINY problem with this, which is that the "IN" plug (the port where you plug in your dremel) is a 3-prong plug but does not fit polarized plugs (the kind of plug which has 2 prongs, one wider than the other). This is OK because you just buy an adapter at any general purpose store for $2.99 which DOES take polarized in, but does NOT have polarized OUT. There are many sorts available, and it's just as safe. I just wish it came this way out of the box :)

The specifications on the bottom of the control are:110 - 120 V60 Hz10AChinaThe control in the pedal mechanism is a ceramic block with dozens of graphite discs in it, when you step on the pedal it progressively lowers resistance contact. I guess the ceramic block is to handle and to dissipate the heat generated. The female cord is short, less than two feet. The male end is 5 or 6 feet.It stopped working after one time, but after taking it apart (for $10 I wasn't going to return it), got it to work again.If you think of it as a very very light duty or disposable control, then you have a reason to risk buying it for $10.

Cost-effective speed control

This is a simple resistance-based control--no fancy electronics. But that's all you need for a Dremel tool. Pedal motion is smooth and speed feels proportional. It's riveted together, so if it ever fails, it's a throwaway. Good value for the money.
