better then I was expecting

Well, its pink, so thats one of the best parts for me... my husbands going to love that. We're a new family and have no real tools in the house other then one screw driver and a hammer I took from my parents. This tool set is a great starter one for hanging things and putting things together and so on. I thought that it would be cheaply built for the price, but its not, the pieces are solid. The hammer is solid, I thought it would be hollow for the price, but everything is great. The only cheaply made part really is the case, and hey... thats not being used for anything other then to hold the useable stuff... Totally worth the price. I would deffinetly buy this product again

Good for small jobs

I bought this tool set and it definitely is handy for small jobs, like making sure a picture frame is level on the wall, measuring, and hammering into dry wall but for "projects" that require a little more than a couple taps with a hammer, invest in something better. The tools included in this set are not too durable...

Repetitive selection of a few bit types in a big case

Here is what you get:1 Magnetic dish1 Small, empty removeable storage box1 bit holder with drive guide1 normal bit holder3 nut drivers (1/4", 5/16", 3/8")1 1/2" socket adapter1 1/4" socket adapter17 drill bits in 12 sizes 1/16" through 3/8".4 long bits of 4 types (P1, P2, SL8, SQ2)6 medium bits of 6 types (P1, P2, SQ1, SQ2, T20, T25)45 small bits of 14 types (2x SQ3, 5x SQ2, 2x SQ1, 3x P3, 6x P2, 2x P1, T40, T30, 5x T25, 5x T20, 2x T15, 3x SL10, 3x SL8, 3x SL6)The breakdown of the small bits is somewhat odd. Relatively few sizes are represented, but you get lots of duplicates. Really need 5 Torx T20 and 5 Torx T25 bits? This is the set for you.My biggest complaint though is with the storage box. It is unnecessarily huge! It is 2/3rds the size of a full drill case and more than half of the inside is just empty space. You could get a Dewalt 20-piece drill bit set and a 37-piece screwdriving set for almost the same price with almost the same bit selection, but those two cases combined are 1/3rd the size of this case.Other than the waste-of-space case, this is a great set.

BEST DUPLICATION PACKAGE

Other reviews warned about the duplication of the bits, but this is rediculous. I figure that if it is a good product, one would not need so many duplicates of the same thing. DeWalt would do much better by providing more bits that are different rather than have so many #2 phillips bits. The drill bits do not have the 1/4 inch hex fitting, so they are useless with a impact driver or impact drill without a special attachment. DeWalt has a quick connect conversion chuck for Impact drills and drivers, which fits very nicely int the extra storage compartment box. Maybe that was their plan all along. Other manufacturers do the same thing, provide duplicates of the cheapest bits to make it look like the buyer is getting a lot. Anyway, the quality is good and the storage box is very handy and durable (for plastic). Also, in time, unwanted duplicate bits can be replaced by ones actually needed, but not provided in the original set.

But for a starter kit you can't go wrong with this set, the basics are there.Some features are:* Includes 17 black-oxide drill bits up to 3/8-inch size* Set includes a variety of industrial screw-driving and fastening bits including the most common fitments* Including:--Phillips--Square recess--Slotted--Star bits, with 1-inch and 2-inch power bits--Black oxide drill bits from 1/16-inch to 3/8-inch diameter--Socket Adapters for 1/4-inch hex to 3/8-inch hex with 1/4-inch shank* Includes magnetic bit tip tray and professional box case (plastic) that keeps things handy and organized* Includes hard plastic storage and carrying case that provides maximum durability for the contents* Weighs 4.7 poundsIf you have the Dewalt ratcheting driver, a Craftsman 9-41796 Ratcheting Ready Bit Screwdriver, a Craftsman 43373, Koblat double-drive, a Stanley 66-358 Stubby Ratcheting Multi-Bit Screwdriver or other magnetic screw driver handles, everything is a 1/4-inch hex type head so it can be used on the screw driver. The exception is the drill bits are only round so you can't use them in the screwdriver, so they are useless with a impact driver or impact drill without a special attachment, but for your ordinary electric/cordless drill the bits work fine. This set could use a hex to drill chuck that would make it work. Dewalt has a quick connect conversion chuck for impact drills and drivers(DW0521), which fits very nicely in the extra storage compartment box. The Dewalt titanium-coated drill bits are some of the best I've used, they are extremely sharp.So, there are a few faults, but the overall quality, durability, and usefulness far outweigh the negatives. Besides, this gives the user a reason to customize the set to their liking. There is plenty of room within the carrying case and the design of the case has that in mind, there are tongue and groove bit trays to go long with the phillips and slotted. Add a few accessories to an already excellent start and you'll have a real work-horse set. The bits and nut drivers work very well with other 1/4-inch hex shank interchangeable screwdriver handles. I have several that I use during assembly and I'm very pleased that I ordered this set.Caveat:To reduce the risk of injury, user must read tool instructions manual before operating product. Always use ANSI Z87.1 eye protection and proper respiratory protection in appropriate situations. Keep hands, body and loose fitting clothing clear of sharp edges and moving parts.

Wow - what a price difference! (Seller - not item rating)

I was interested in buying this item for my 2 sons, but there was only one available on Amazon, from another seller. This is fortunate for me, because when I searched for it elsewhere, I found the same exact item at Lowes.com - regularly priced $15.99 - it was on sale for $11.99. Certainly a big difference from the $59.99 that the seller was offering it for.Just goes to show that you should know what you are buying, and check prices elsewhere.I gave it 3 stars because the item is perfectly fine - it's just that the seller price is terrible.

Another Over-Priced Red Toy Tool

I paid full price for this item in a boutique before I really got into woodworking with my son. We assembled the pre-cut toolbox and bought all the tools that accompany this (a package with a saw, clap, measuring tape, hammer). It was cute for his birthday party, but not practical. In general, these items are way over-priced and do not perform as well as "real" tools. Bottom line: they are toys. This drill's battery never really kept a decent charge, and it was finally thrown out when it melted (super-dangerous) while charging. Now my garage smells like melted plastic and battery acid (did I mention it's dangerous?).Even if you don't get a defective product, it's a waste of money. Get a real drill at Walmart for 1/2 the price.
