BUT IF IT ONLY WORKED...

The tool is quiet & powerful. It seemed to have impressive performance. Then it quit after about 10 minutes. There appears to be a short in the power cord where it enters the tool and something is rattling around inside. Beginning a warranty claim today.

had to call wenproducts to get instructions on flex shaft

i bought this at menards, and there are no instructions for the flex shaft at all. online, i found wenproducts and called. asked them to email the instructions. also spoke with a person with a thick accent--no help-finally asked for the supervisor, and he helped me....and could speak english. so far it has been okay, but the supervisor told me that the dremel brand bits will fit into tool. the one i bought did not. dremel brand may make different size shafts for their accessories, [???} this was 3/32. harbor freight tools had a tiny dremel type tool, and it's bits were too small to fit this. i am using this to get the old grout out, in bathroom, where grout lines are thin. it has taken both the wen tool and the harbor freight tool to find bits small enough to clean out between the tile. a dental pick has helped some. it' s the corners that are tricky. if i cant find accessories to fit in the flex shaft, it wont be much good to me, but so far, seems okay, using the 2 that were in with the tool.

Not worth it

I purchased this tool to use in my jewelry crafting, and as I am writing this review I am waiting for UPS to arrive to pick up this product and return it back to Amazon for a refund. This product had 4 major problems for me.#1 - The chuck is not fully adjustable. The product comes with two little colet attachments and neither of them are able to tighten fully to hold bits smaller than the ones provided. I have an additional bit collection (with 1/16" posts) that I planned to use with this product and they are all too small.#2 - The chuck on the flex shaft portion is poorly designed and isn't able to tighten at all, even to use the thick bits provided with the product. When you attempt to twist the chuck to tighten it just twists inside the cord of the shaft. There doesn't seem to be a way to hold it tight and twist. If there is a way to do it, I never figured it out.#3 - This was the ultimate deal breaker for me. The motor doesn't hold the speed setting. Since the flex shaft was ultimately worthless since it can't be tightened to hold bits, I resulted in using the main rotary tool to do some grinding and was soooo disappointed by the fact that I would set the speed to a slow #2 and then as I'm working the motor would randomly accelerate and then could not be lowered again. I would have to turn the tool off and then on again and then a slow speed would start and then rapidly accelerate again. Just ridiculous! It was impossible and uncomfortable for me to work on my projects with this tool.#4 - The manual is totally worthless as well. It doesn't even explain how to attach the shaft which is easy enough, but still important for a manual. The manual is basically a saftey pamphlet and contains no helpful information regarding the actual product.Overall, a terrible waste of money and time. I am grateful that Amazon makes returns easy and all is not wasted on this stupid tool. But now I am back to searching......
