I have used dewalt, makita, and milwaukee rotary buffers on fiberglass gelcoat yachts up to 120' for 6 years now. All three are workhorses. The dewalt and especially the milwaukee weigh a ton and are the brunt of horrible user fatigue over long periods. Now to the Kawasaki. It feels exactly like the makita in lightweight, with the exact same powerful motor as the dewalt. The real benefit is the price. All three big name polishers are over 200 dollars, which is rediculous. The kawasaki has just finished compounding and polishing 6 yachts from bow to stern. The backing pad and pads included are cheap. Buy a 3m hookit backing pad and use 3m hookit buffing pads and this machine stands up to the others as a dedicated workhorse both in reliability and power. After buying the 3m backing pad and buffing pad, you still are at least 60 dollars cheaper than the other brands. I wrote this review because of the only other review was a terrible one. Maybe he got a dud but i had to let everyone know the great deal this polisher is.

I wasn't sure what to expect for the price, but i definetly got my moneys worth! Variable speed is a plus. A little heavy for long periods of use.

After reviewing and looking at probably every single variable speed polisher on Amazon, I went with this Kawasaki 7" unit. Partially based on reviews and partially on specs, I needed a unit that would work well on both cars and boats, have a nice grip for ease of use (my boat is 30' long and just think about using a random orbital buffer for 4-5 hours straight...you can't feel a thing after the first hour or so!) I was cautious since the price was so much lower than all the Dewalts and similar, but having never had a problem with returning a poor product with Amazon, I took the chance. It works GREAT! Very sturdy, well built, strong motor, and the gears are very nice. I've never owned a Kawasaki product before (I'm a Suzuki guy myself), I will definitely look at other Kawa products in the future! Just a note that has also been noted in other reviews, purchase yourself either the 3M hookit pad or something similar. The pads included with this unit are not quality made, and you're better off getting some nice ones rather than risking your paint finish or possibly worse from a burn through on a cheap pad.
