Works Well

This tool works well, but it requires a framing square to line it up. Their accessory wide jaws don't really help to make it line up square either. And if it ain't square, you are wasting material. Use a framing square . . . ALWAYS . . . But, it is a great straight edge clamp that will stay where you put it!

Emerson straight edge clamping device

I have always wanted a good straight edge for guiding a router or circular saw and this is a good one. You can find many uses for this clamp such as a fence for a drill press or band saw and in addition to being self locking, if you use it as a simple glue clamp, it has more than 600 psi. of clamping force.The clamp itself is great on holding power. There are three positions with the locking handle. The aluminum is straight and without a bow and excellently packaged. The numbers and grid lines are clear and easy to read if need be and I think an all around good clamp device for the money. The non-metallic parts seem to be well manufactured with good materials and the entire clamp waranted for life as they indicate they will replace or fix it if anything goes wrong with the usual caveat that the waranty does not cover misuse or abuse.There are also accessories available at extra cost such as a contractor saw plate, router plate and a wide jaw accessory as well as additional items for contractor use.For the money, in my opinion, you can't go wrong with this item.

I was a little skeptical buying this clamp over the more popular store box model but with the measuring marks built into the straight edge I thought it was a better value. I have used it now for a couple of weeks and I am very happy with the product. I bought the 50 inch model to clamp across 7/16 OSB. It has yet to slip on me while cutting.
