Perfect for use with those cheap cordless screwdrivers.

I have a cheap ($10) cordless screwdriver (right-angle grip-handle type) that can be found at Walgreens sometimes during the holiday season. It only comes with screwdriver bits and a couple hex bits. I had a few drill and dremmel bits from a large drill and dremel tools (that I hoped the cordless screwdriver - which is much smaller - would replace). These all went into the chuck quite well (anywhere from 1/6th" and smaller to 1/4" thick). The other end fits the cordless screwdriver (which has a magnetic hex bit recepticle). It fit pretty good but maybe with a tad bit of wobble which probably won't be much of a problem. This is a great add-on tool.

Good concept, punk execution

The problem in my example is with the chuck closing/opening mechanism.. It was very sticky out of the box. I applied some light oil which made a slight improvement, but the action is still notchy, so it's impossible to know if the jaws are truly closed on a bit. The only way I can make sure is to hold the hex shank with pliers while twisting the chuck body as tight as I can. Because of the way the closing/opening mechanism is built I couldn't reverse out of a tight hole without loosening the jaws. Bit is then stuck in hole. Bad language ensues. Luckily I only needed it for a few jobs right now. If you need a chuck adapter for serious work, this one is a gamble.

I use my makita 10v all the time, but it has a speed loader on it. I love my drill to death, but I hate using speed loading drill bits, they just don't hold up and break often, and its hard to find one that cuts into stainless steel. I work installing computer equipment in bars, restaurants, clubs, etc. I'm constantly installing shelves and drilling holes in stainless. I'd much rather use my smaller light weight makita with a bright LED built into it that stays on a few seconds after pulling the trigger than use my much larger much heavier, much more awkward to use in tight spaces dewalt 18v. This item does the trick! I would definitely repurchase this again.
