Kit is a good deal, but expect to spend a lot more

Dremel makes great products, and these tools are no exception. The accessories have always been pricey, but are generally worth the cost.The 300 rotary tool is a good one. I have a 4000 as well, and the 300 can do almost everything it can. With the proper attachments, the MultiMax and Trio could perform the same functions as the 4000-specific accessories the 300 can't use. The 300 also lacks the true variable speed of the 4000, but the 10 speed settings on the 300 will be close enough for just about anything.The Multi-Max makes an excellent detail sander. Haven't been able to try the cutting function yet.The Trio is essentially a hand-held router. Great for things that the rotary tools don't have enough power for. Uses different accessories due to the larger shank and higher power.The only real criticism of the kit itself is the included storage bag. It doesn't keep the tools separate and doesn't have any good way to store the accessories (the rotary tool accessories come in a small plastic box, but the other tools' accessories come in plastic bags and will end up loose in the bag unless you provide your own storage box.Why not five stars? There are some key parts not included. To do everything shown in the pictures, you need to add:Dremel 565 Multi Purpose Cutting Kit 565DDremel TR820 Trio Compact Foot and Dust Port AdapterDremel TR654 Straight Bit, 1/4-InchDremel MM720 Yoke Cutting Accessory KitDremel TR560 Trio Guidepoint BitDremel MM440B Multi-Max Wood Flush Cut Blade, 3-PackObviously not including these kept the price of the kit down, but it was something of a disappointment to see how much extra has to be spent to make proper use of the tools. The last two items, at least, should be default components. Photos of the attachments in use should not be used to advertise the kit if they are not part of it.

White-collar friendly

I'm a white-collar kind of guy. I program computers for a living. So, while I'm not incompetent, I am not normally what you would call a "handyman." Oh sure, I took shop class in school and I know the basics, but I sit behind a computer most days. Add two kids into the equation, and its amazing I get anything done around the house.However, I always had the basic tools. Hammer, pliers, wrenches, even a cordless drill set. I could handle the basics. But, there are always those projects that I never could quite do. I always suspected that if only I had the right tools, I could do

Arg my first review never got submitted so here we go again.This is wonderful tool and a great price! Just one of the tools alone can sell for $60-80. I got mine on one of the amazon tools of the day for $95. It was a heck of a deal! I probably could have bought a couple extra and sold them off craigslist lolAnyway here's what i bought it for:A few months back i bought a van that was in great condition and well maintained except that it had a few hundred rust spots bubbling up on the roof. It would have cost me $1000 to have it professionally done. Because its an older vehicle we planned to drive it into the ground anyway and the exterior has minor scratches and dings anyway. I decided to use this as a learning opportunity to learn how to fix rust spots.I first started borrowing my father-in-laws air compressor with a grinding stone to grind away all the rust spots. This works great but required driving over to my father-in-laws house to use it. After 2 weeks of that process i saw this dremmel set on sale on amazon and decided to get it. I'm not a very handy guy but i figured at the least this is something i can use in the future if it didn't work for helping me with the car body work.It's worked great after 2 months (about 20 hours of usage)! I've really only used 2 of the 3 tools, the rotary for grinding out the rust spots and the multi max with the sanding attachment to feather the spots out and to smooth our the area after the divots have been filled in.Each tool has saved me a lot of time having to travel to father-in-laws house and then not having ot hand sand everything.Sure it doesn't come with a hammer, and is missing some of the attachments in the picture as another reviewer wrote but it does the job i needed it for!
