It is an okay product

The quality of this product could use a little improvement, especially with the backing material. It needs to be tougher because it tends to pull apart allowing the pad to shift on the sander. And when you peel the pad off of the sander it leaves a lot of fuzz behind which then needs to be removed thread by thread. However, the pads sanding ability are very good and they last about as long as any other. But since they do tend to become loose, they have to be replaced more often.

Not reusable. Hook and Loop Surface Pulls Apart

Firstly, these pads are alright for sanding. Nothing great but they work. They may or may not be cheaper for you than brand X at your local hardware store. My hardware store actually sells these now along with the rest of the Genesis line. These pads seem good to me if you are going to stick one on, then use it until it is worn out, then get another, etc.However, I sanded down a few boards, and the sandpaper was still in good shape, but I needed to switch blades, so I peeled the pad off and a large amount of stringy cotton like material pulled away from the sandpaper backing and remained on the sanding platen. Once I picked the fuzz out of the hooks with a needle, the sanding pad would no longer stick to the platen. I didn't press hard, didn't overheat anything, the platen still looks good. The backing on the paper just seems to get destroyed by the oscillations. I tried this with another pad and sanded down the end of a hammer handle I was replacing. After maybe 5 mins of sanding, the sanding pad still looked like brand new, but when I peeled it off the multipurpose tool, the same thing. Backing destroyed, would not stick to the tool anymore.

I bought it to finish up my deck handrail sanding; overall I am happy with it for its priceIt is powerful as detailed sander, but: Heavy, very noisy, and somewhat bulky.
