better than you think

so impressed with the 12 volt series. i needed this tool for one cut a on a job and wondered if i would ever really need it again. but i reach for it all the time. works extremely well cutting rigid foam, exhaust pipe, nails, and just about anything. it's not a 12o volt sawsall so don't expect it to be. i rate this tool at 5 stars because it's light weight,has good power, the light is extremely handy, and like the rest of the 12 volt series, it fits great in my bags.

Cordless Sawzall's Ugly Little Cousin.

I put off buying this tool early on because I thought that a 1/2" stroke length was too short for the tool to be an asset. After 3 years of using other M12 tools and bringing a Hatchet Sawzall w/ V18 batteries for small-to-mid-sized projects I eventually found that to be a p.i.t.a.. I finally broke down and bought this a while back. After having used this for a few months I realized I'd made a mistake early on, the Hackzall should have been in my first batch of M12 tools. That 1/2" stroke I was concerned about didn't matter because I realized that it helped my control during more tight or intricate cuts. It's excelled at cutting 1" conduit and 2" PVC and a variety of other, smaller/lighter materials. In confined spaces, it's suitable for larger/heavier cuts with the appropriate blade and an extra minute or two.The tool vibrates considerably for such a small reciprocating saw but no worse than the PC Clamp-Saw (3,000 SPM / 5/8" stroke) I'd used 4 or 5 times before. The standard M12 battery will give up the ghost within a few minutes. For this tool (and other high-draw cutting tool) I recommend and use the M12 XC 3.0 AmpHr battery, it brings these tools to a level that no other 10.8-volt or 12-volt platform does. The bare tool is a great buy for under $100. It's still an ugly, off kilter looking thing, but it performs.

An extremely useful device for cutting in cramped quarters, especially nice when working above your head. I've used it on copper, PVC, EMT and metallic liquitite up to 1-1/4" and on 2" exhaust pipe. It doesn't take much pressure to stall the motor and then you wait a second for it to reset. Use the weight of the saw and it cuts fine, it just takes a little longer. I use it frequently because of its small size over a full size sawzall or bandsaw.
